Presidents Adams and Jefferson's domestic and foreign policies.
Summary
Adams and Jefferson did not agree on much. Their policies differed in such ways that Jefferson had more successful turnouts for his Domestic Policies, while Adams' Domestic Policies were weak, his foreign policies were very successful
Notes
Jefferson's Domestic Policy include:
The Lousiana Purchase was known as one of the best land deals known. This is when Jefferson bought fifteen million dollars of
land, which doubled the size of the United States. Because Jefferson ridded of his strict constructionist beli efs about the constitution, he allowed for public money to be spent on buying land. Paying only cent amounts for each acre, the Lousiana Purchase was one of the most intelligent investments for the United States. Jefferson's Foreign Policy include:
The Embargo Act of 1807 ended American trade with other businesses. Not only did this harm the American economy, but it also hindered other countries' economies from flourishing. However, the Americans were the most affected by this act. Jefferson had good intentions when encouraging his citizenstopurchase American-made products when cut- off trade with all other countries except France and Britain
Adam's Domestic Policy include:
The Alien andSedation acts were passed by both federalists and congress because the two groups wanted to end criticism against congress and limit the immigrants that favour democrat-republicanism. The Alien Acts changed the requirements for citizenship by increasing the number of years it takes to become a US citizen from five years to fourteen years. The Sedation Acts made it easier for a person to be arrested for criticizing or speaking out against thegovernment. This act has been argued to limit citizens' rights because of the first Amendment (freedom of speech, religion, etc.). Adam also built the US Military. Adam created an army of 50,000 men in preparation for the war. Not only did Adam create the Military, but the US Navy as well. Adam's Foreign Policy include:
Adam's XYZ affair helped them keep out of the war with France. Americans boycotted the French culture such as music. Even though the Americanwanted to avoid war with the French, Americans refused to pay the ridiculous sum of money being asked by the French to speak with theirofficials.
